Apple’s Black Friday Sale Teased in Australia

· by · News

Apple has begun teasing its annual Black Friday "shopping event" in Australia. The company isn't giving many hints on what will be offered in the one-day event, but a giant ad on its Aussie site does show an iPad with Retina Display and the company's new Apple Earpods.

Apple isn't known for running sales, but Black Friday—the day that retailers in the U.S. traditionally hit profitability for the year—is a notable exception. It's the busiest shopping day of the year and kicks off the Christmas buying season, and Apple typically offers discounts on new products during its event.

Last year, for instance, MacBook Air was US$101 off, while iPad 2 models were discounted $41-$61 per unit. iPod touches were discounted $21 - $41 off. Judging from the tease above, it seems reasonable to expect Apple to discount iPad with Retina Display this year.

Apple hasn't begun pushing the sale in the U.S. just yet, but seems likely to do so once the Tuesday officially rolls around.
