More than 1,000 Apple engineers will be on hand for the conference, and more than 100 technical sessions will be available. Apple also uses the event to announce Apple Design Award winners for Mac, iPhone, iPad, and now Apple Watch apps that show stand out design and innovation qualities.

Just like last year, Apple will conduct a ticket lottery for developers instead of opening sales on a first come first serve basis because the even typically sells out in minutes.

Members of Apple's Developer program can sign up for the lottery between now and 10AM pacific time on April 17. Apple will randomly select developers from the ticket applications and send out notifications by 5PM pacific time on Monday, April 20.

350 WWDC scholarships will also be available for students and members from participating STEM organizations around the world. Scholarship tickets will be free, but won't include transportation or lodging.

Ticket lottery winners will automatically be charged US$1,599 for their WWDC pass when selected, so be sure you're ready to commit before signing up.
