Audioengine Introduces P4 Passive Speakers

· by · Product News

Audioengine announced Thursday the release of the Audioengine P4, a new member of the company's line of bookshelf speakers. The P4 is the company's first passive product, designed to work with a desktop amplifier -- this contrasts with the A5 and A2, which both have internal amplifiers.

"The goal was to design a small but powerful bookshelf speaker for people that already have receivers or amps and are looking for the same Audioengine sound and quality in a passive loudspeaker." Dave Evans, Audioengine co-founder, said in a statement. 'The AP4s work great with Class D desktop amplifiers, stereo receivers and tube amplifiers."

Key Features

  • 4" 2-way passive, front ported design
  • Hand-built and custom finished cabinets
  • 5-way gold-plated binding posts
  • Silk dome tweeters and Kevlar woofers
  • Magnetically-shielded
  • Excellent performance for music and movies
  • Wall mount, stand or shelf placement

The Audioengine P4 is priced at US$249 (for a pair), and is available today at the company's Web site and at authorized resellers. The speakers come in either black, white, or caramelized bamboo -- the bamboo version is considered to be more environmentally green, and is priced at $325.
