Aurora Photo Editing Tool Updated & Free (for 24 Hours)

Light Crafts announced several updates to Aurora on Wednesday. Aurora is a simple photo editing, organizing, sharing and storing software. Additionally, Aurora is free for the next 24 hours.

Updates include the addition of two photo editing tools, Retouch and Punch, and the availability of Aurora for Mac users. Consumers can download and own Aurora permanently, for free by visiting the Light Craft site, selecting “Buy Now,” and entering FREE24 at check-out. The 24-hour promotion begins on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. Eastern and ends on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. Eastern.

Following the free promotion, Aurora for Mac and PC will be available for US$19.95 and can be purchased for download at the Light Craft site.

Downloaded the Aurora software (with a Universal Binary symbol next to it). Except not really so much. Requires an Intel processor. The website itself gives no hint of hardware requirements. Last I checked a Universal Binary file is supposed to run on both Intel and PPC. Oh well.

Not sure I see any difference from this and what is already offered in iPhoto as far as photo re-touching goes….

And the “Universal” download does NOT work on PPCs, FYI.
