Autodesk Issues Three New Mac Applications

TMO Talk (3)

CAD and visual effects software maker Autodesk has released three new Mac OS X applications aimed at those who work in media and entertainment: Autodesk Toxik procedural compositing software, Autodesk Mudbox digital sculpting and texture painting software, and Autodesk ImageModeler image-based modeling and photogrammetry software.

Toxik 2009 is a companion to Autodesk's Maya visual effects software. It's a compositing application whose tools support stereoscopic productions and real-time interactive high resolution compositing. It's expected to ship in March with a US$3,495 price tag.

Mudbox 2009 is geared toward painting, texturing and re-touching 3D models. It features organic brush-based 3D modeling, allowing artists and designers to be creative without having to deal with technical details. It will ship next month and cost $745.

ImageModeler 2009 is an image-based modeling and photogrammetry software that generates 3D models from photographs via a three-step workflow. Shipping in March, it will cost $995.
