Backup 3.2 Improves iDisk Usage

· by · Product News

Apple released Backup 3.2 for MobileMe users late on Tuesday. The update for the data backup and restoration application for Mac OS X improved iDisk and local storage efficiency, and improved the application’s overall reliability.

Version 3.2 offers a new data backup recycling scheme where data stored on iDisk is recycled every 30 days for daily backups, and every 12 weeks for weekly backups. Users can choose to recycle old data stored on local disks every four or 12 weeks, every six months, or only when disks are full. Monthly and quarterly backups can be recycled every six or 12 months, every two years, or when local destination disks are full.

Backup 3.2 is included with annual MobileMe subscriptions, priced at US$99 a year. The update is free and available via the Software Update application, or as a downloadable installer at the Apple Support Web site.
