BBEdit 9.3 Gets Updates To Projects, FTP Browsing, More
November 4th, 2009 at 5:52 PM - Product News by Bryan Chaffin
Bare Bones Software announced Wednesday the release of BBEdit 9.3. This update includes improvements to the Projects feature, ctag data files, FTP/SFTP browsing, and the clipping system. Bare Bones has also introduced a new command-line utility called bbfind.
For the Projects feature, BBEdit 9.3 allows users to add Finder saved searches. Projects can also better handle non-text files, and allow users to preview files via QuickLook in Snow Leopard. The update also adds the ability to make language-specific ctags data files to serve as completion sources.
The clipping system allows users to combine Clipping sets for easier access in mixed-language files, and the FTP/SFTP browser has a "New" button that allows for the creation of new folders and files directly in the browser.
Bare Bones has also added support for BBEdit's multi-file searching feature from the Mac OS X command line. The command lie tool is called bbfind, and the company said users could add BBEdit into a Unix workflow.
Lastly, the update includes bug fixes. Bare Bones has extensive notes on the update at its Web site. The update is free to registered users of version 9.x, and is available via download.
