BBEdit 9.5 Adds Live Search, Event Triggered Scripts

· by · Product News

Bare Bones Software announced the immediate availability of BBEdit 9.5 on Tuesday. The update for the code and text editing application for Mac OS X added a new Live Search feature, along with the ability to attach scripts to menu items and events.

Version 9.5’s Live Search feature includes a Spotlight-like search field, auto-highlights search matches as you type, lets users navigate through highlighted search results, and the most recently highlighted search result stays selected when leaving the search field. Users can now attach scripts to menu commands that auto-run when the menu item is selected for more control over automated workflows, too.

The update also added the ability to view the contents of Zip archives and extract individual files, includes text auto-completion for HTML tags with code templates, added a Reveal in Project list, can view and open the contents of ePub files, includes an updated online Help system, and more.

BBEdit 9.5 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher. It is priced at US$125 and is available at the Bare Bones Software Web site. The update is free for version 9.x users, or $30 for earlier versions.
