Bento 3 Adds iPhoto Support, Network Sharing

· by · Product News

FileMaker announced the immediate availability of Bento 3 on Tuesday. The new version of the personal and small business database application added support for iPhoto along with the ability to share databases over a local network.

The new version of Bento recognizes iPhoto Albums, lets users tag images with additional information, and includes an iPhoto-like grid view for scanning through photos and other media. Libraries can be grouped into folders now, too.

The built-in network sharing support uses Bonjour to find shared database libraries. Content can be password protected on a field-by-field basis for viewing or editing.

The application includes 35 ready to use or edit templates, and more database templates are available at the online Bento Template Exchange.

Bento 3 supports batch emailing, printing empty forms, copy-and-paste to import data from other applications, syncs with Bento for the iPhone, and more.

Bento 3 is priced at US$49. Bento 1 and 2 users are eligible for a $20 rebate when upgrading to Bento 3.
