Big box retailer Best Buy is apparently ramping up for the April 3rd iPad launch at its Apple store-in-a-store locations around the United States. Best Buy will be the only brick-and-mortar retailer to offer the iPad other that Apple when the multimedia tablet and ebook reader is released.
According to Mac Rumors, iPad display materials are due to reach Best Buy locations just a few days before the launch. Best Buy’s store-in-a-store layout plans also show space for four iPad demo units along with an area to display accessories. Apparently space two Mac laptop and an iMac demo unit will sacrifice their spaces to make room for the iPads.
Sources at Best Buy also claim that they have four iPad SKUs even though Apple will be offering only three models at launch — the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi only iPad models. The Wi-Fi plus 3G models are scheduled to ship before the end of April.
Apple introduced the iPad at a special media event in January, and began taking pre-orders and reservations on March 12. The tablet device includes a 9.7-inch multitouch display, runs iPhone OS and is compatible with most iPhone apps, offers Bluetooth keyboard support, and weighs about 1.5 pounds.

Good thing that Apple has the iTunes Store to sell apps, music, books, and other content for the iPad. BestBuy’s Mac software selection is very limited.
