blackra1n Jailbreaks 3.1.2 Upgraded iPhone, iPod touch

· by · News

Popular iPhone hacker George Hotz, or Geohot, released his jailbreak utility dubbed blackra1n on Sunday. blackra1n can hack any iPhone or iPod touch running OS version 3.1.2 so that unauthorized third-party applications can be installed on the device.

Jailbreaking is the process of hacking an iPhone or iPod touch so users can install and run applications that aren't available through Apple's iTunes-based App Store.

The free jailbreak hack requires a Windows-based PC to install, and it doesn't unlock iPhones for use on any cell carrier.

Apple doesn't support iPhone or iPod touch models that have been jailbroken and future OS updates could disable the hack, so use hacks like blackra1n only if you know what you are doing.

blackra1n is free and available at the blackra1n.com Web site.
