· by · Product News

Brightkite’s self-named app for the iPhone and iPod touch was updated to version 2.8 on Thursday. The update for the social networking app added support for iOS 4 fast user switching, along with the ability to upload photos to posts in the background.

Version 2.8 also added support for 140 Japanese characters, added the ability to receive notifications when friends are near, added support for viewing the badges your friends have earned, fixed several bugs, and more.

Brightkite 2.8 is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
