Like the original, players run through the Marathon spaceship blasting away the alien Pfhor with guns, missiles and bombs. Marathon was originally released for the Mac in 1994 and quickly became wildly popular thanks to its graphics and intelligent (for the time) enemies. The game has since been ported to Mac OS X, and now has a new lease on life thanks to the efforts of Soli Deo Gloria Productions and Daniel Blezek. Marathon for the iPad Marathon for the iPad includes 27 levels across six chapters, Pfhor and Bobs, and the original game’s weapons such as the Mega Class pistol, assault rifle and grenade launcher, fusion pistol and flame thrower. The game also offers in-app purchases for HD Mode with higher quality graphics, and Master Chief Mode with infinite ammo and invulnerability, all weapons, instant save and recharge, and the ability to start on any level. Marathon for the iPad is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store. So it’s something new. A free game with a built in pay for cheat codes option. Now, all i can see when I start it up is an overlay that says “unable to connect to the iTunes Store”. I have tried reloading the game and re-syncing my iPad but the message keeps coming back so I can’t play the game.
