CES: Seagate Debuts GoFlex For Mac Drives

| Product News

Seagate used its presence at this weeks Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to roll out its new line of GoFlex for Mac external drives, which are HFS+ pre-formatted so they can be used immediately with Mac OS X’s Time Machine backup software. They feature FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 interfaces, although they can be changed to USB 3.0 or eSATA.

The new drives are available in a variety of flavors, including 2.5-inch portable versions starting at US$199.99 for 1TB of storage and a Pro edition with 7200RPM speed starting at $149.99 for 500GB. There’s also a GoFlex 3.5-inch external drive that starts at $219.99 for 2TB.

Seagate offers an HFS+ driver that allows Windows computers to access GoFlex for Mac drives without the drives having to be reformatted.
