China Unicom Lands iPad Deal

· by · News

Apple and China Unicom have apparently struch a deal to bring the iPad with 3G wireless data support into China. Unnamed sources at China Unicom claimed the deal is wrapped up, although there isn’t any word on when customers can expect to see the 3G iPad on store shelves, according to Caixin Online.

News that China Unicom’s iPad deal follows the company’s recent launch of the iPhone 3GS with Wi-Fi support. A change in China policy allowed the carrier to offer Wi-Fi enabled iPhones for the first time last month.

China Unicom is also set to begin selling the iPhone 4 some time in September.

There’s no word yet on exactly when the iPad with 3G support will be available in China, or how much it will cost.
