Christy Turlington: Apple Watch Accurately Tracks Workouts without an iPhone

Apple Watch spokesperson Christy Turlington-Burns posted her Week Three blog entry in a series about training for the upcoming London Marathon. Mrs. Turlington-Burns said in her Apple-sponsored blog that after a few uses, her Apple Watch learned enough about her stride that she didn't need her iPhone with her to accurately track her results.

"After you run with Apple Watch and your iPhone a few times, the Workout app knows more about your stride," she wrote. "So you can run on a treadmill or outside without your phone and still get a really accurate workout summary."

Apple tapped Mrs. Turlington-Burns to promote the Apple Watch, while she is simultaneously promoting her charity, Every Mother Counts. The promotional effort includes weekly blog entries complete with images of the Apple Watch at work and images of the model and activist while she trains.

The blog entries includes other details about her workout while she was vacationing with her family in the Caribbean, and it also features promotional points for the Apple Watch, such as:

A different band can give your Apple Watch a whole new look. The grooves in each case are precision engineered and CNC machined, so every time you change bands the fit is perfect.

We also took a few long walks on the beach, which can really get your heart rate up, and it works the legs without as much impact on the joints. I set the Workout app to Outdoor Walk, and when I was done, I’d burned 220 active calories. Not a bad addition to my Move ring!
