A spokesperson for Connected Data told The Mac Observer that the company will be supporting owners of its Transporter product whatever happens with its merger with Drobo. The two companies announced the merger on Tuesday, but terms of the deal and what form the merged company will take have not been disclosed.

Drobo is the much larger of the two companies, though both were founded by Connected Data CEO Geoff Barrall. It remains to be seen if Transporter will be rolled into Drobo's line of network attached storage (NAS) or remain as a standalone product line.
We reached out to both companies, but neither would comment on the merger itself, citing a 30-day due diligence period. Jim Sherhart, Vice President of Marketing for Connected Data, did answer our question about support for Transporter customers, saying:
Great to hear from you. I can't comment on the merger discussions beyond what was issued in the press release today, but what I can tell you is that current Transporter customers will absolutely continue to receive support regardless of the outcome of the merger discussions.
Transporter earned an Editors' Choice Award from TMO at Macworld/iWorld 2013.
