Disney Snaps Up iOS Game Maker Tapulous

· by · News

Tapulous, the company behind the popular iPhone game Tap Tap Revenge, was just snatched up by the Walt Disney Company and will be a major part of the Magic Kingdom’s mobile strategy, according to the New York Times.

“We have been thinking, ‘How do we position ourselves to succeed,’” said Tapulous CEO Bart Decrem. “And after several conversations with Disney, we could see that we have a shared vision of the future and the iPhone as a mobile platform.”

Disney plans to let Tapulous continue making its highly successful music rhythm games, but will also work on finding ways to incorporate it’s own properties into mobile games.

Tapulous co-founder and COO, Andrew Lacy, along with Mr. Decram, will run Disney’s new mobile business. Disney didn’t disclose how much it paid for the company.
