Drobo Intros 5N 20TB Network Storage Device

Drobo unveiled its Drobo 5N network attached storage system, or NAS, on Thursday. The system can hold up to 20 TB of storage as a combination of spinning hard drives and SSD, and offers native Time Machine support, too.

The 5N includes 5 hot swappable drive bays that can hold a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD, a Drobo Accelerator bay for an mSATA SSD, and a Gigabit Ethernet port. The company said the 5N is designed for users that want fast performance for file sharing and data backup on their local network.

The Drobo 5N is priced starting at US$599 without drives, and supports OS X 10.7 or higher.
