EA Launches First Sims 3 Expansion, World Adventures

Electronic Arts on Tuesday announced that World Adventures, the first expansion pack for The Sims 3, will be available in stores worldwide this week. The expansion takes players to Egypt, China, and France, where they meet new characters, learn new skills, obtain new objects, and explore puzzle-filled underground locations.

Extra game content available when players register the game includes Egyptian furniture, Chinese décor, and over 1,000 SimPoints to spend at the Sims 3 Store for more in-game items. In addition, new Simlish language music in the game includes tracks from Nelly Furtado, LeAnn Rimes, Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head, and others.

EA also said that Sims 3 World Adventures will launch on the App Store in early 2010. Unlike the Mac and PC version of the game, players won’t need The Sims 3 in order to play it.

In addition to The Sims 3, the Mac/PC version of World Adventures requires Mac OS X version 10.5.7, an Intel Core Dup processor, 2GB RAM, 128MB video RAM, and 3.5GB of hard drive space. Pricing is US$39.95.
