Brad Cook EA Mobile on Monday brought the venerable Command & Conquer series of strategy games to the App Store with Command & Conquer Red Alert. Set in an alternate timeline in which World War II never happened, the Command & Conquer series pits the Soviets against the Allies during the 1950s, when the Cold War spills over into worldwide conflict.
On the iPhone, Red Alert features a dozen maps along with two battlefield maps for Skirmish mode. As in other iterations of the game, players gather and manage resources, build and deploy units, and upgrade their technology. EA promises to add new features to the game in the coming months, including a free multiplayer update for combat via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and the Empire of the Rising Sun expansion pack, which brings Japan into the conflict.
Pricing is US$9.99 and iPhone OS 3.0 is required.

This release is an overpriced buggy mess. It’s such a rip off that I am actually compelled to write this review! Not only is the game a rip off, ea have kindly introduced a command and conquer store to rip you off even more! Thanks!
It seems they have invested all their time and money into making the game into 3d, which is fine but they haven’t invested enough time into the gameplay which is unchallenging to say the least.
The game is also buggy (read reviews on the AppStore) your tanks etc will happily coverge into a blocky mess, pathfinding is abismal, there are only five levels and two factions, which will probably last you about 2 weeks max to complete.
You get 2 skirmish maps and have to pay (unbelievable cheek from ea) for additional maps. Also once you have completed the missions skirmish play will be your only option and winning Is like taking candy from a baby and there is no difficulty toggle in the options.
So on the whole absolute rubbish!
I was really looking forward to this release but really regret buying it. Afterwards I did some research and tried warfare incorporated, which is half the price and much much better.
