Despite Apple’s promise of late August shipping dates for iPhone 4 owners that requested free Bumper cases, at least some customers have been receiving notification that their case are already in the mail.
In a move to help iPhone 4 customers that are experiencing signal strength loss issues when they hold their phone so the lower left corner is covered, Apple has been offering free cases from several manufacturers as well as its own Bumper case. Instead of using a Web page-based order form, customers must download an app for their iPhone 4 that handles the process.
Free Bumpers shipping early
Apple promised free Bumpers or cases to iPhone 4 owners during a press conference in July focused on addressing antenna and signal strength-related concerns. Customers must purchase their iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010 to qualify for a free case.
Customers that requested their free case early after the iPhone 4 Case Program app was available received notification that their case would ship in late August for an early September delivery. For at least some customers, however, it looks like their Bumper will arrive early.
The iPhone 4 Case Program app is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
