Long gone are the days when any mention or site of a Mac on TV or a movie was newsworthy, but we noticed a gag in this weekend's episode of Family Guy (Season 7, Episode 8: "Jerome Is the New Black") that was definitely worth a mention and a screenshot. Said gag was the Mac OS X Spinning Wait Cursor ( or the Spinning Beachball as it is usually called) interrupting a conversation between Peter, Lois, and Jerome.
In the scene, the three were talking when a giant Spinning Beachball appeared in the middle of the kitchen, and they waited until it was done before going to commercial break. We thought it funny enough to pass along.

Waiting on the Spinning Beachball

Not “Spinning Beachball”, but Spinning Beachball of Death or SBOD.
The Spinning Beachball can happen when the OS or an app is busy. It’s only when it sticks around (i.e. some sort of run away process hijacking the system) that it becomes the SBOD.
There was also a comment about Windows Seven which was immediately followed by an advert for windows Seven.
