Faster iPhone 4 Reservations: Apple Store App

It’s no secret that most people trying to pre-order a new iPhone 4 through Apple’s Web site have been experiencing some frustration thanks to overloaded servers. If you’re among the frustrated masses hoping to get their hands on the latest iPhone on June 24th, Apple’s own Apple Store app may make that a reality.

Apple released the Apple Store app for the iPhone on June 15, and one of the options it currently offers is the ability to reserve an iPhone for pickup at your local Apple Store on he iPhone 4’s official launch day, June 24. Even better, the Apple Store app is available as a free download at the App Store.

To reserve an iPhone 4 for pickup at your local Apple Store on June 24th, launch the Apple Store app and tap Reserve your iPhone 4. You can choose to reserve an iPhone 3GS instead of an iPhone 4, too.

The app lets you choose which Apple Store you plan to visit on the 24th, and it can suggest nearby locations. You’ll have to provide some account information to complete the reservation process, as well as choose which model iPhone 4 you want.

Once the process is completed, you should get a confirmation email letting you know your iPhone will be waiting for you on the 24th. Apple will be opening its stores at 7AM on June 24 for early shoppers, but they’ll hold your phone until the end of the day so you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn unless you want to.

Demand for the iPhone 4 seems pretty high, so you may have to try more than once to complete your reservation, but the Apple Store app seems to be working more reliably than Apple’s own Web site right now.
