Firmware Update Addresses MacBook Pro Display Flicker

Apple released MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Upate 2.8 late on Tuesday. The new firmware version addresses a display flickering issue on the late 2008 15-inch MacBook Pro.

The update requires OS X 10.5.8, 10.6.8, or 10.7.3, and according to Apple’s slim release notes,

This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (15-inch, late 2008) models. The update resolves a graphics issue that may cause the internal display to flicker.

MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.8 is available via the Software Update application on compatible Macs, or as a downloadable installer from the Apple Support website.
