Firmware Update Fixes MacBook Air Display Issues

Apple released MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.0 late on Wednesday to fix display-related issues with the ultra-light laptop. This marks the second update for Air, and the first addressed display issues as well.

The update “resolves a rare issue where MacBook Air boots or wakes to a black screen or becomes unresponsive,” according to Apple’s knowledge base article. After installing update, user’s Boot ROM Version number will be MBA31.88Z.0061.B01.1011181342.

Apple’s new MacBook Air line

Apple released an update for the MacBook Air in October that corrected an issue where the laptop might not wake properly when connected to an external monitor, along with a bug that could cause the system, to stop responding when playing movie trailers in iMovie ‘11. Like the first update, the new update is only for the new 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air.

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.0 is free and available for download at the Apple Support Web site.
