Foursquare 5 Gets New Interface, More

The social networking service Foursquare announced the immediate availability of its self-named iPhone app on Thursday. The updated version of the app gained a redesigned interface that the company says will make it easier for users to check in at locations.

Version 5.0 also has a new explore option that lets users see popular check in points that are nearby, can highlight potentially interesting locations based on previous check ins, can tag locations to visit later, and more.

The Foursquare app requires a free Foursquare account, and is available as a free download at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
