Foxconn to Build Rumored Apple Tablet
October 7th, 2009 at 8:07 AM - News by Jeff Gamet
Apparently Apple has tapped Foxconn Electronics to build its rumored tablet computer device, and it will ship some time in early 2010, according to DigiTimes.
Unnamed market sources claimed that Apple's tablet will sport a 10.4-inch screen and will be geared more towards ebook reading than music playback, which plays into rumors that Apple plans to offer books and magazines through the iTunes Store. It will also offer Internet connectivity and a long battery life.
Apple has allegedly ordered between 300,000 and 400,000 units for its first shipments.
While the report fits with current ideas about what Apple has in store for a tablet device, there's no concrete evidence to back up DigiTimes' information. As such, a grain of salt is probably in order.

Watch it come out soon, in time for the holiday buying season.

On one hand, that would be very cool. On the other hand, it would completely screw up my holiday spending budget.
Suppose they announce it on October 20th or the 21st. It would then also screw up MicroSoft’s Windows 7 debut.
Thanks for being one of the few sites to include the word “rumor” in the title.
I still predict a special Apple press event on Feb 9 at the Yerba Buena Center to announce the tablet, with Apple making no comment whatsoever regarding the simultaneous MacWorld Expo going on next door.
