Freeverse announced on Friday that the company has discontinued 17 of its Mac games, including long-time Burning Monkey games, Enigma, and Airburst. The company assured The Mac Observer, however that the16 remaining Mac games published by Freeverse, including the Big Bang games, Four Field of Glory titles, Hordes of Orcs 2, and others are alive and well in Lion.
The company made the announcement in the wake of the release of OS X Lion, and stipulated that the discontinued games will continue to be supported for prior versions of Mac OS X.
In a letter written to the company’s “outstanding and good-lookin’ customers,” Freeverse acknowledged that its recent focus on mobile games for iPhone and iPad has resulted in some of its, “Mac titles [not getting] the attention that we would have liked to provide them.”
The letter added, “Rather than leaving our customers with a sub-par experience running certain titles under OS X Lion, and in light of phasing out our GameSmith service later this summer, we’ve made the hard decision to discontinue [these 17 Mac games].”

Thank goodness we’ll still have Jared, Butcher of Song!
I think Brian might need some sleep ... at least I can’t be “asuured” I understand what a “long-time Burning Monkey” game is or whether there is a game called “Four Field of Glory” or whether there are just four “Field of Glory” games and the “four” got an inappropriate capitalization ... ah, wait ... maybe I should go to bed instead.
Bryan does need sleep. Bryan *usually* needs sleep.
Bryan also corrected the typo. Thanks for the note!
