GarageBand for iOS Update Adds iPhone, iPod touch Support

Apple released a new update for the iPad version of GarageBand on Tuesday that added support for the iPhone and iPod touch. Previously, the app only support the iPad and iPad 2.

The version 1.1 update also added support for creating custom chords for smart instruments, added 3/4 and 6/8 time signatures, added the ability to transpose songs in semitones or full octaves, can now reset song keys without transposing, added an arpeggiator to the smart keyboard, added export settings for AAC and AIFF, and more.

GarageBand 1.1 is priced at US$4.99, and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.

It’s 500 bloody megabytes!!!!! So much for moving to the country and working from home - I’m gonna have ot move back to the city just to keep up with Apple’s increasingly humungous downloads.

This is a happy day indeed!  I have been waiting for a GarageBand version that will run on an iPod Touch, so I can use it in my elementary music classes.  Thank you, Apple!
