Hack to Bring Last.fm, More to New Apple TV

· by · News

Owners of Apple’s second generation Apple TV looking to add more features to device are in luck now that FireCore announced it will be releasing aTV Flash (black) in the next couple of weeks. aTV Flash (black) is a suite of hacks for the home entertainment appliance that will include Last.fm support, a handful of video codecs, and a built-in Web browser.

The hack will include NAS streaming support, and will come with its own installer so mere mortals can get the added functionality without having to resort to command line tools.

While the installer will be easy to use and will add some cool features to the Apple TV it is still an unsupported hack, so don’t expect Apple to offer any support if something goes wrong.

FireCore hasn’t said exactly when aTV Flash (black) will be available, or how much it will cost.

[Thanks to 9 to 5 Mac for the heads up.]
