How to Disable Apple Music Auto Renewal

Apple Music comes with a three month free trial, and after that a US$9.99 a month fee kicks in. If you aren't sure Apple's new streaming music service is for you and don't want to forget to disable automatic payments, read on to find out what to do.

Apple Music links to your Apple ID and automatically sets itself up for monthly payments when you first sign in. There is a dialog in the sign up process that makes this clear, so it shouldn't be any surprise when three months from now you start getting charged ten bucks a month.

If you decide paying for Apple Music just isn't worth it for you, here's how to disable autopay:

  • Launch Music on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  • Tap the Account Profile icon. It's in the upper left corner of the app and looks like a person's silhouette inside a little circle.

You'll still have full access to all off Apple Music's features during the three month free trial period. After that, you can still listen to Beats 1 Internet radio, check out artists on Connect, and listen to streaming music with limited song skipping.

If you change your mind and decide you do want to pay for Apple Music, just jump back into your accout settings and turn Auto Renewal back on.
