· by · Product News

Apple released iBooks 1.5 late on Tuesday. The update for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch ebook reader app added a new night reading theme, along with several new font choices.

Version 1.5’s Night theme displays white text on a black background that’s easier to read in low-light conditions. The Normal white-on-black theme and Sepia themes are still available.

The update added four new font choices: Athelas, Charter, Iowan, and Seravek. While the update added new fonts, it also removed Baskerville, Verdana, and Cochin.

iBooks now has a Full Screen viewing option that removes the graphics that make the app appear more like a traditional book, added new graphics for generic book covers, redesigned the annotation palette, fixed bugs and improved stability.

iBooks 1.5 is free and is available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store.
