IGN Editor Matt Casamassina to Head App Store Game Picks

· by · Games

IGN editor-at-large, Matt Casamassina, has left the popular game new site behind to take a job at Apple as the company’s global editorial games manager. Mr. Casamassina 13 spent years covering the computer gaming industry.

“In a nutshell, I will be leading the charge for games on the App Store, so whether you browse through iTunes, iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, the games content you see will be handpicked and organized by me and my team,” Mr. Casamassina said on his blog. “I couldn’t be happier.”

Apple has been promoting the iPod touch and iPad as portable gaming platforms, and bringing Mr. Casamassina on board looks to be a push to take a more serious stance in the electronic gaming market.

Mr. Casamassina seems excited about his new job, too. “Anybody who has read my work through the years will know that I’ve long been a huge Nintendo fan, but if there is one company that could entice me away from covering Mario and Zelda it’s the one owned by Steve Jobs,” he said.
