iMac Firmware Update Addresses Sleep Issues

Apple released iMac Graphic FW Update 2.0 on Thursday to address sleep, wake and startup issues some users were experiencing.

According to Apple’s release notes, “This firmware update fixes an issue that in rare cases may cause an iMac to hang during startup or waking from sleep.”

The update weighs in at 669KB, and requires Mac OS X 10.6.7. It is available via Apple’s Software Update application, or as a downloadable installer at the Apple Support Web site.

I assume that the firmware update applies only to the most recent iMacs?

I assume that the firmware update applies only to the most recent iMacs?

I couldn’t install it on a somewhat older iMac, even though I have 10.6.7.
