iOS Nap Time: Playing Music to Fall Asleep

If you want to listen to music on your iPhone while you fall asleep, you don't need to remember to shut it off or download third-party apps to handle that for you. Turns out the iPhone can handle that task all on its own, and it's easy to set up.

If you want to play music on your iPhone and have it automatically stop after you fall asleep, do this:

  • Launch the Clock app
  • Tap Timer
  • Set the timer for how long you want music to play
  • Tap When Timer Ends and choose Stop Playing

Now your iPhone will play music until the timer countdown completes, and then it will automatically shut off. Knowing about how long it takes for you to fall asleep is important, so if you think it takes about ten minutes for you to doze off, maybe set your timer for 30 just to be safe.

Bonus: You can also choose alternate timer alarm sounds from here, too. That's handy if you have regular alarms set and want to make sure you can quickly tell them apart from your timers.
