iPad Gets Closer to China Approval

Apple is inching closer to gaining approval to sell the iPad in China now that the multimedia tablet has earned a safety certification from the government.

The China Quality Certification Center Compulsory Certification is only one step along the way to final approval to sell the iPad in the country. Since the device includes radio transmitters and receivers, it will likely have to undergo testing and approval from the Telecommunications Equipment and Certification Center in China, too.

There’s no word on when to expect the iPad to be officially available in China, and considering how slow most governments move, it could still be a long time before iPad sales in the country move from the gray market into approved stores.
