iPad Includes Screen Rotation Lock Feature

· by · News

iPad owners that want to lock the display’s orientation won’t have to rely on application developers to include the feature in their apps thanks to a screen rotation lock switch.

The rotation lock switch sits above the volume controls and lets users force their iPad into landscape or portrait mode, which will likely make anyone that uses the device in bed happy.

Apple introduced the iPad at a special media event in January, and began taking pre-orders on Friday. The multimedia tablet will be available in stores on April 3.

The iPad is a multimedia tablet that supports movie and music playback, includes an ebook reader and ebook store, supports most iPhone apps, and sports a 9.7-inch multitouch display. It’s available in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi plus 3G wireless data models.

Pricing for the iPad starts at US$499 for the Wi-Fi only version with 16GB of storage, $599 for 32GB and $699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi plus 3G model costs $629 for the 16GB model, $729 for the 32GB model, and $829 for the 64GB model.
