iPhone 4 Lands Top Honors at Mobile World Congress

Apple’s iPhone 4 won the “Best Mobile Device” award at this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, despite the fact that the company wasn’t at the event.

The event judges had this to say about the iPhone 4:

Great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones.

The awards list also included “App of the Year on the Apple Platform,” and that went to Rovio’s popular Angry Birds game.

Other winners at MWC included HTC for “Device Manufacturer of the Year,” Antenna’s Antenna Mobility Platform for “Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Solution,” and Mobilera for “Best Mobile Advertising & Marketing Campaign.”

The Mobile World Congress is an annual event that highlights what’s new in the mobile device industry. This year also included Macworld Mobile, a spin-off from Macworld Expo that focuses on Apple-related mobile technology at events around the world.
