iRig Mic: Your On-the-go iPhone Recording Studio

· by · CES

LAS VEGAS — IK Multimedia, well know for their Amplitube app, wants to turn your iPad or iPhone into a portable recording studio with its new iRig Mic. Instead of relying on the Dock port on your iOS device, iRig Mic uses a special connector plug that fits the headphone jack and includes a splitter for your earbuds, too.

iRig Mic can mount to stands, too

The IK Multimedia team told The Mac Observer at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas they expect iRig Mic to be handy for podcasters on the go, as well as musicians looking for a light weight recording setup when they aren’t in the studio. The kit includes a condenser mic and audio adapter plug for your headphone jack.

iRig Mic will work with any app that accepts audio input, which means pretty much every recording app for the iPhone or iPad. IK Multimedia VocaLive app will be available for free soon for users looking for a recording and effects processing app, too.

IK Multimedia plans to ship iRig Mic early this year for US$59.99.
