iTunes Rolls Out 90 Second Song Previews

· by · News

Apple began extending song previews from 30 seconds up to 90 seconds on Thursday. Apple told music distributors in November to be ready for the change, although the company didn’t say exactly when the longer previews would start rolling out.

“We are pleased to let you know that we are preparing to increase the length of music previews from 30 seconds to 90 seconds on the iTunes Store in the United States,” Apple told distributors. “We believe that giving potential customers more time to listen to your music will lead to more purchases.”

Most of tracks The Mac Observer checked at the iTunes Store now offer 90 second previews, including music from The Beatles.

Apple hasn’t said if it plans to extend 90 second song previews to the iTunes Store in other countries.
