iTunes Store Highlights Music Related Movies

November 4th, 2009 at 11:36 AM - News by Jeff Gamet

Apple added a new section to its iTunes Store on Wednesday geared at highlighting movies with a musical theme. The section includes musicals, music-focused movies, concert movies and documentaries.

According to Billboard, Apple has been negotiating to bring some music-related titles to the iTunes Store before they are available on DVD. Deals have already been struck for pre-DVD releases of "It Might Get Loud" and "Kings of Leon, Live at the O2."

Apple is also adding more older music-related titles to its catalog such as "The Song Remains the Same," "U2: Rattle and Hum," "Buena Vista Social Club," "Don't Look Back-Bob Dylan," John Lennon Imagine," "Neil Young: Heart of Gold," "This Is Spinal Tap," "Purple Rain," and "The Doors."

The new iTunes Store section looks to be a move on Apple's part to help drive up movie sales to its strong base of music buyers by highlighting titles they might be interested in.

Calling out music-related movies makes sense to me. That’s standard practice with dramas, comedies, sci-fi, and most other film genres. Music movies might as well have their own category, too.

I don’t want band posters or cute little notes painted on the walls. I am looking for a classical music theme. I want the room to look adult and not like an elementary music room. I have no idea where to begin. My limit cash
