iWork for iPad Adds File Transfer Support

Apple rolled out updates for the iPad versions of Keynote, Pages and Numbers late on Wednesday. The updates for the mobile versions of the iWork app suite added support for transferring documents to and from MobileMe’s iDisk and WebDAV servers, along with support for exporting Keynote and Numbers files to Microsoft Office-compatible formats.

Keynote 1.2 added support for audio in builds when importing Keynote ‘09 presentations, support for grouping objects as well as animated build support for grouped objects. Lens, flare, spin and wipe build animations can now be used in presentations, along withRevolving door, swoosh and wipe slide transitions.

Numbers 1.2 added the ability to group objects and open CSV documents.

Pages 1.2 added support for displaying word count in documents, support for .TXT files, and the ability to group objects. IT also added support for importing and exporting existing footnotes, endnotes, sections and tables of contents, along with tables that include image background fills in cells.

Keynote 1.2, Numbers 1.2 and Pages 1.2 are priced at US$9.99 each and are available at Apple’s iTunes-based App Store. The updates are free for version 1.x users.

The file transfer option will be very helpful for our students at George Fox that selected the iPad since they now can transfer files to and from our personal web (WebDav) storage solution Xythos.
