Justin Long: Get a Mac Ad Campaign May Be Done

TMO Talk (6)

Apple’s popular Get a Mac ad campaign featuring John Hodgman as PC and Justin Long as Mac may be coming to an end, according to Mr. Long. In an interview with The A.V. Club, Mr. Long said he heard that Apple was considering “moving on” to something new to advertise the iMac.

Apple’s Trust Me ad

“You know, I think they might be done,” Mr. Long said. “In fact, I heard from John, I think they’re going to move on. I can’t say definitively, which is sad, because not only am I going to miss doing them, but also working with John.”

The ads features the two actors playing the roles of a PC and a Mac to highlight the benefits of using a Mac over a PC running Microsoft’s Windows operating system. All of the commercials are available in QuickTime format at the Apple Web site.

Apple hasn’t commented on whether or not it plans to end its Get a Mac campaign, but when the company does finally move on to something new, John Hodgman and Justin Long will make for a hard act to follow.

They does, does they?
I also can’t help wondering which rolls better, the PC or the Mac?

I like John Hodgman, PC, here is a photo of me with him taken at the grand opening of the North County Fair Apple Store

I will miss the “Get a Mac Adds”.  There are some commercials that are just as entertaining as the TV programming they sponsor, “Get A Mac” is one of those.  There are some commercials that I watch even when on TiVo, just because they are entertaining. There are some that I watch even though I have no use for their product (Geico, for example) but I find the commercial entertaining so I watch.

If the “Get a Mac” campaign is over I for one will miss it, if only for the entertainment and humor it provided.

Sad to imagine, though inevitable. I think I’d enjoy them even if I weren’t an Apple user. Few ad campaigns entertain this well.
