LaCie Intros Rugged XtremKey USB Flash Drive

LaCie introduced its new XtremKey USB Flash drive on Wednesday. The drive is designed to survive in extreme environments and underwater.

The XtremKey is housed in a 2mm metal alloy pipe casing, can withstand temperatures between -50C and 200C, is water tight in depths up to 100 meters, is shock resistant for drops up to five meters, and can withstand being run over by a 10 ton truck. It supports USB 2.0 and offers 30Mb/s write speeds and 40Mb/s read speeds.

The XtremKey will be available in August in capacities ranging from 8GB up to 64GB, and will be priced starting at US$49.99.
