LaCie Unveils LaCinema Rugged HD Multimedia Hard Drive

LaCie announced the immediate availability of the LaCinema Rugged HD multimedia hard drive on Thursday. The drive includes an HDMI port for content playback on high definition TVs.

The hard drive includes 500GB of storage, a USB 2.0 port, a ruggedized outer shell, a remote control and an HDMI cable, and supports H.264, MKV, WMV9 and MPEG-4 high definition video.

The LaCinema Rugged HD is priced at US$349.99.

What HDMI version this hard drive has? As the recent HDMI 1.4 increases the max resolution , which is the resolution employed with digital theaters); the HDMI Ethernet Channel, which permits for a 100 Mb/s Ethernet link between the a couple of HDMI connected devices; and offers the Audio Return Channel, a new Micro HDMI Connector,  3D Over HDMI, extended supports for color spaces, and the Automotive Connection System
