Contrary to speculation, AirPrint is not being pulled from iOS, according to two e-mails purportedly from Apple CEO Steve Jobs. AirPrint is a technology planned for iOS 4.2 that allows iOS device users to print from their iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch over a network, but when developers noticed that references to the technology were missing from Apple’s developer site, concern mounted that it was being dropped.
At least two folks were concerned enough to write to Steve Jobs, asking if it was being dropped. According to a letter forwarded to 9to5Mac, Mr. Jobs offered a one word response of, “Nope.” A reader at MacRumors posted the text of another e-mail he said was from Mr. Jobs that was a tad more verbose, saying, “AirPrint has not been pulled. Don’t believe everything you read.”
In the meanwhile, iOS 4.2 is expected to be released this Friday, though Apple has not announced a specific launch date as of yet.
