Lightroom 5 gets New Editing, Photo Book Tools

Adobe announced the immediate availability of Photoshop Lightroom 5 on Monday. The new version of the photo management and editing application gained new image editing and enhancement tools, as well as new photo book design options.

Version 5 now offers an Advanced Healing Brush that supports editing irregular shapes, an Upright tool for quickly auto-straightening buildings and other objects, Radial Gradients for multiple image vignettes and off center vignettes, editable Smart Previews for adjusting images even when the original is temporarily unavailable, and more. The new version also includes sharing features for building video slideshows with music that play on most computers and mobile devices, and better photo book creation with new templates and customization features.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 is available as part of Creative Cloud subscriptions, or as a stand alone product with traditional licensing. For users that aren't Creative Cloud subscribers, Lightroom 5 is priced at US$149, or $79 as an upgrade from earlier versions.
