Mac Pro, Xserve Firmware Improve Virtualization Support

· by · News

Apple released Mac Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.4 and Xserve EFI Firmware Update 1.2 late on Monday. The updates improve compatibility with virtualization products and improve system reliability when booting.

The updates improve compatibility with virtualization products that use VT-d, and the Mac Pro firmware update also improved Windows XP storage performance for Boot Camp users.

Mac Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.4 requires the early 2009 model Mac Pro, and Xserve EFI Firmware Update 1.2 requires the early 2009 model Xserve. Both are available via the Software Update application, or as downloadable installers at the Apple Support Web site.
