Magellan Intros Premium GPS Car Kit for iPhone, iPod touch

| iPhone

Magellan on Monday introduced a premium GPS car kit for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch. It includes a built-in GPS receiver, an amplified speaker, a noise-canceling microphone, and Bluetooth for hands-free phone calls and turn-by-turn directions. It works with all navigation applications, including Magellan’s RoadMate for iPhone.

The mounting kit works with most silicone skins and hard shell cases, and it rotates to accommodate portrait or landscape views, with the ability to keep the device’s battery charged through the vehicle’s power outlet.

The kit sells for US$129.99 and is available now for pre-order. It will ship on Jan. 7, 2010.

Pfff?. Get fricken real. For $99 I can buy a completely dedicated GPS.

But then you have yet another gadget to carry around. I only want to carry around a single device.

It seems to be overpriced but when you consider that it has its own GPS receiver and other features then it may not be too badly priced although I wish it were cheaper.

Ah… no. I don’t carry my car’s GPS around. Are you kidding. It’s stuck to the window, and that’s where it stays.

@mre

That sounds like a perfect plan to get a broken window and a missing GPS.
